How to write an effective CV for Scholarship
CV is one of the key document while applying for any scholarship and effective CV for scholarship can help you in getting shortlisted during documents review stage. CV /resume should reflect your personal and professional attributes and should be balanced towards reflecting your achievements without much exaggeration. This is the first thing a reader sees on your CV. You need to be truthful and provide the brief and concise details. Provide the personal details in this section including
- Name
- Address
- Contact Number
- Nationality
- Date of Birth
Objective
Mention your goals and vision and it should be aligned with the scholarship being applied .Briefly tell how this scholarship will be helpful in achieving your goals. You can also mention your research and experience key points if completely related to your goals in this section
Work Experience and achievements
This is the most important section of your CV and it should distinguish you among others. In this section mention what you have done including the major tasks accomplished, how you have done it and how it can be helpful and relevant in future research.
While mentioning the achievements keep the things simple and measureable. Donot use vague terms and be precise while mentioning various projects work you have done in the past. Try to include as much experience as possible aligned with your potential field of further studies.
Education
Mention your educational credentials. Highlight your achievements and keep the sequence in such a way that your achievements can be easily noticed while skimming through your CV. Mention your latest degree on the top and then go in descending order with previous qualifications. If you have a very good score, it should be written in bold. If you have a strong experience, write experience first and then education details. However if you are fresh student, move education section before work experience and achievements section. Mention the major courses you have studied and projects executed related to field in which you are applying.
Languages
Mention the languages you know along with your expertise level. Use a simple scale such as native, beginner, advanced etc.
Skills
It is important to keep your CV updated while applying for different scholarships. Mention all of the skills you have developed and keep the skills relevant to your target field of study on the top. Mention technical as well as nontechnical skills
